The San Antonio Allergy Asthma & Immunology Society is comprised six (6) classes of members, namely Active, Emeritus, Academic, Military, Associate,and Honorary. The Practice Guidelines are formulated by the American Academy and College of Allergy Asthma & Immunology (Joint Task Force) and adhered to by the fellowship-trained physicians who practice medicine in the subspecialty of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. The information contained in these guidelines is intended for patient education concerning the “standards of medical care” as practiced by San Antonio Allergists.  These guidelines represents a consensus opinion of the Society members concerning the safe and ethical use of skin testing for the diagnosis of allergic disorders and the use of immunotherapy (allergy shots) for treatment of nasal allergies and asthma. The following information is intended to answer frequently asked questions.

It is our hope that this patient education information will assist the healthcare consumer in recognizing those physicians who offer “allergy services” that meet the San Antonio “community standards of medical care” for the safe and effective use of skin testing and allergy shot treatment as defined by the Joint Task Force and practiced by the members of the San Antonio Allergy Asthma & Immunology Society.
